What We Do:
BLITV provides vital resources and opportunities for Black professionals at mid-to-senior levels, including:
● Fostering connections: Connecting Black professionals with established industry leaders for relationship building, job opportunities, guidance and support.
● Industry Partnerships: Collaborating with major broadcasters and production companies to drive systemic change through talent development, inclusive hiring, and diverse content creation.
● Data & Insights: Conducting a career progression survey to inform programs, advocacy efforts and providing valuable insights to the industry.
● Supplier Diversity: Connecting media companies with Black-owned freelance talent and service providers.
Why It Matters:
The UK Black community wields significant economic power, (£300 billion annually), yet remains underrepresented in the media landscape. Research shows that diverse teams drive innovation and improve market share (45% more likely – Harvard Business Review). The global success of shows like Supa Cell and I May Destroy You demonstrates the demand for authentic Black narratives.
BLITV believes inclusion is about empowerment. We’re not just aiming for presence; we’re building a future where Black professionals lead, innovate and shape the stories that define our culture. We partner with broadcasters, production companies, and creative organisations to help them meet their diversity goals and unlock the vast potential of Black talent.
Our Impact:
Since our launch, Black Leaders in TV has:
- Forged strong partnerships with key industry players like the BFI, BBC, ITV, and the Film & TV Charity.
- Provided essential professional development through targeted workshops and masterclasses, empowering our members with industry-relevant knowledge and skills.
- Facilitated impactful networking opportunities, that have directly led to job placements, distribution deals, and lasting professional relationships.
